VILT March 6th, 2023, class now registering!
$499 until February 21st (use coupon EARLYREG); $599 until full.
You will get an introduction to training development (called Instructional Design) and gain the necessary skills to be an effective instructor-leader of your classroom.
This course is a lot of hands-on. There is some presentation, but there is a lot of activity, development, and presenting. Being an instructor is an active role, this course represents that. You will be shown how to write objectives, develop outlines and content, create assessments for that material, and document the process and the performance of your participant’s performance.
You will then be trained to deliver a course while remaining within the scope and intent of the course materials and outline. Being an instructor-leader means that you will be able to deliver courses as they are intended to be, lead a class and mitigate behavioral issues, prepare a classroom for the activities and purpose of the course, and adapt to participant needs and activity.
This course is designed to certify law enforcement personnel, and those serving the law enforcement industry, to receive instructor certification as required by most state law enforcement regulatory bodies. While this course is IADLEST NCP certified, please verify that this course will be accepted by your state regulatory body as satisfying any requirements they may have for issuing certification.
See below for a list of states we know have specific restrictions for this course to be accepted as a certification course.

Course introduction and Introduction to training development (Instructional Design)
Learn the basics of creating training using an Instructional Design process: writing objectives, creating an outline and content, creating assessments, documenting the process. You will create and deliver a course as part of your assessment.
Preparation, Classroom command, and VILT
We cover key terms and terminology, preparing the environment, classroom command, time management, and types of presentations.
Introductions in class, Figures of speech, and Managing activities and scenarios
Preparing the room and environment, introductions, ice breakers, different devices of communication, and managing activities.
Interaction with the classroom
Managing scenarios, tactics for answering questions, assessing learning, reinforcing content, and how to review.
Practice and Practical application
Participants will deliver their course for practice and feedback, then present for final assessment. Participants will be assessed by how well they follow their own outlines, content, and achieve the intent of the course.
Materials
Participants will need a laptop loaded with Microsoft Office or Google Docs, or have access to computers to complete tasks and projects.
On-going support
Just like learning, our training support doesn’t end when everyone leaves on the final day. We provide continued support to our participants while they put into practice the skills and processes they learn in this course. This course was 30 years in the making – we don’t expect our participants to be ready in 40 hours.
Participants of Jacobs, et al, LLC, courses will receive continuing support for as long as they want/need it at no additional cost.* Participants are invited to set meetings with their instructor to discuss their training materials and programs after they receive their certificates of completion. Jacobs, et al, instructors remain permanent consultants as participants go through their career changing the standards of how law enforcement training is designed and developed.
* The only additional cost would be if a total course or program review is requested, like for a National Certification Program pre-evaluation review.
